Home Organisation and Decluttering Trends in 2025

Home Organisation Trends 2025
Home Organisation and Decluttering Trends 2025

I was delighted to appear on Dublin’s 98FM last week with Suzanne Kane and Brian Dowling. We covered my January tips and tricks to get organised as we start into a New Year.

We also had a great discussion covering Home Organisation and Decluttering trends for 2025, so I thought I'd share it here too in case you missed the interview!

Self Care

I set up my business The Home Reset as a way to help others to reset their homes but also to help to reset their minds and lives. I spent a lot of years working in the corporate world, trying to juggle kids, career, my home and everything else. I found that if anything slipped it would generally be my home and that when I did get time to reset my spaces it actually made such a difference to all aspects of my life. I was able to fully focus on the kids and not spend my free time on housework. So, I could see the benefits of having simple, smart bespoke systems in my home that I could maintain easily with very little time.

I find having a reset home is a form of self-care and I think in 2025 we will be all focusing more on the things that make us happy and content. There is a link between a clear home and a clear mind! If we focus on decluttering the things we no longer need and feel more in control of our environment we will in turn feel more control in our lives. It is scientifically proven that a clutter free space will reduce stress.

Sustainable practises

The trend of Under Consumption is something I am hearing more about – this is where we focus on only purchasing things that we NEED as opposed to buying everything that we WANT.

We know the huge impact to the environment with over consumption and mindlessly buying things that we don’t actually need. These things end up cluttering our homes and our minds and so I can see a shift towards more sustainable habits. We are also seeing an increase in no buy months or years where you only buy ESSENTIALS like underwear for a set period of time.

How can you be more sustainable in 2025?

Shopping in our wardrobes – by decluttering, organising and rotating our wardrobes so that everything is visible and accessible I am sure you will be surprised by the hidden gems you had forgotten about.

Buying preloved or renting for occasion wear. Rather than buying new each time – check out the amazing charity shops we have – Lorraine Keane runs a fabulous store in the Frascati Centre in Blackrock where all proceeds go to Breast Cancer Ireland.

Or check out the AMAZING Kat's Instagram page where she sells beautiful vintage pieces.

For rentals for big occasions, I don’t think you can beat Happy Days in Leopardstown! I used Rachel's amazing store twice last year and already have it booked for an event in January!! https://www.instagram.com/happy.days.style?igsh=MW1zbXM4czFvN2h4bg==

Quality over Quantity

I think as people are bring more conscious, they are moving away from fast fashion brands and buying quality pieces. We are aware of the production practices of some of the well known fast fashion outlets and by saving up for quality pieces are not buying cheap and fast we are really thinking about our choices in a more sustainable way.

Laura DeBarra’s Instagram page is my go to for tips and tricks to extend the life span of our clothing from everything to how to wash clothing to what to look out for on the labels – she is a queen of sustainability and author of Garment Goddess which I recommended in a previous newsletter.

Hope you enjoyed my look into 2025 trends, lets hope it is a year that we see a shift towards more sustainable living and away from fast fashion.
